I Have A Recovery Dream

I Have A Recovery Dream

I am happy to share with you words that I pray will echo in the hearts and minds of a nation, and be considered as one of the greatest demonstrations of Recovery Freedom to ever come from my heart. As I share these wonderful words of reality and hope, I consider them to be the declaration of drug and alcohol independence. Let these words be an inspiration and a promise to all men that take it to heart, would be guaranteed the inalienable right to a clean and sober life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Today we must face the tragic fact that the active addict/alcoholic is still not free. Today the addict/alcoholic is still crippled by the manacles of a never ending obsession and bound by the chains of criminal conduct and degrading behaviors. Today the addict/alcoholic lives on a lonely island of poverty, in the midst of a vast ocean of material prosperity. Today the addict/alcoholic is still languishing on the corners of proverished neighborhoods, cities all over America, constantly finding themselves in exile in this very land. So I bring today experience of this appalling condition. In recovery we refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity in this society and nation for us. We have come to the bank of NA/CA/AA to cash the check of life. Checks that will give us demand for recovery, riches and security beyond our scope.

This is not the time to engage in rest. Now is the time to open the doors of opportunity to all ailing addicts/alcoholics they are all children of (GOD). Now is the time to be lifted from the quicksand of addiction, and to the rock solid brotherhood of recovery. We must forever conduct ourselves and our fight for recovery on the highest plane of dignity and discipline. Again and again we must rise above emotions into the thinking of (GOD), to reach the majestic heights (GOD) intended for us with physical, mental, and spiritual force.

I say to you today, that in spite of the difficulties and frustrations of our past WE CAN PREVAIL. I still have a recovery dream deeply rooted in spiritual principles. I have a dream that all recovering addicts/alcoholics can and will establish a new way of life and lift another from the darkness and degradation of drugs and alcohol. I have a recovery dream that all men and women in active addiction will find recovery and be restored to their rightful place in their homes and community to lift the hearts of the despairing wives and husbands, children and give to them the person they once knew and better.

Let Recovery Freedom ring from each and every aching heart.

Let Recovery Freedom ring from every drug infested street, neighborhood, and city across the land.

Let Recovery Freedom ring from every Mosque, Church, Minister, Preacher, and Congregation.

Let Recovery Freedom ring from the hearts of every clean and still suffering addict/alcoholic to live life on lifes terms.

When we let Recovery Freedom ring, we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every city and every state we will be able to speed up every spiritual principle that gets us closer to(GOD) and the doing of His will.

Black-men, White-men, Muslim, Christian, Catholics, will be able to join hands in recovery and say to the entire world Drug free at last, Drug free at last. Thank (GOD) almighty we are drug free at last.

(Reworded from the Great I Have A Dream Speech)
