"TIRED" A Brother Fighting Addiction

Tired

Some things in our lives won’t change until we come to the point of being tired. Tired of what? Maybe it is pain, guilt, strife, fear, loneliness, or just plain old loss. Tired of looking into your loved ones eyes seeing disappointment, tired of looking at your husbands/wives whom you vowed to love unconditionally, yet feeling their eyes with tears and their hearts with despair.

Drugs and Alcohol addiction can bring you to that point I myself have struggled and battled with crack cocaine for over 20 years. The heartache and pain it causes is insurmountable, it can and will destroy every aspect of your life spiritually, mentally, and physically. Spiritually it will take you away from anything of spiritual grounding and advancement, it becomes your GOD. Mentally, it rules your thoughts and leads and guides you through your thinking. Physically, it causes damage to the body, harming your heart, brain, and sometimes sudden death.

My addiction has broken me down to the point of being tired of the self-destruction I have caused myself and my family. Today I walk in a new direction, being clean, and now I want to share my own experiences with you. Anyone can live a productive life by making GOD the center of all you do, through prayer and perseverance anything is possible. I want to help others come to the point where they can, like me say I'm tired!

I am happy you have realized the effect of such substances. They make crack with rat poisons and other kinds of poisons. May Allah keep you focused on Him and THMLF. And know the devil will come in the person of someone
and try to guide you off your Deen. Stay firmly rooted! and you will surely win!

    Peace and absolute happiness

Ohh My Dear Brother,Your A God Call on Your Father
My sister At one time was on crack,An in speaking with her now , the only thing that saved her was Being Tired, and
    God (ALLAH)
Call on him Brother night and day, ask him for the strength, let him know your tired and cannot do it alone.
HE WILL ANSWER YOU.HE HAS TO HELP YOU!!!!! NO ONE ELSE CAN DO IT!!!,ASK HIM TO TAKE THE TASTE COMPLETELY AWAY.
and don't give up on your self, just keep trying and keep praying and one day you will look up free,it works I seen it with my Sister, She has been free over 15 years now All praises are due to Allah.

    As-Salaam Alaikum dear Brother;
Thanks for sharing, honesty is vital to recovery. I myself am a recovering person. It truly is inspiring not only to hear someone else share their story but to hear another believer share the same experiences. I myself just got tired. After nine years off and on, it wasn't until I got tired that I surrendered. I am truly grateful to ALLAH for removing the desire. But let me ask a question, I was having this discussion with another believer who is a recovering person. The topic was whether or not our pass experiences in addiction are useful now or useless. What are your thoughts believing family?

    As-Salaam-Alaikum!!

    Brother Hakiem,

Why wouldn't your experiences be useful? Each of us, through our life experiences, have been shaped by Allah to assist in this work in a unique way. Maybe this is your way. We have millions of our people who will be flocking to Islam who are dealing with addiction that you can help guide through your experience of recovery. Those of us who have never had to deal with a chemical addiction, should be open minded enough to realize that ANY addiction is not of Allah (God). Some of us are addicted to food (which can be a chemical dependency). Some of us are addicted to bad relationships. But none of us have come to this work perfect. So it's not a question of whether or not your past experiences are useful, because they are. The question is are you willing to use them to help our people, my brother. May Allah continue to bless you!

    Asa,

It is refreshing to hear such honesty with strength and pray that we continue to use the best part of our minds and not care for the poor part. The best part also being learning from some of the worst experiences and living to help another, because sometimes only that person knows what to say to another with the same/similar experience.

Thank you for sharing your experiences from your best part - APDTA

This was a beautiful testimony. I definitely relate to being tired. What made me prime for the teaching of the Honorable Elijah Muhammad was being tired, or 100% dissatisfied with what this world had to offer. Dissatisfaction lays the foundation, gives the proper environment for change. Thank you for sharing this with us Bro. Hannibal.
